Position Status: 25 hours a week with possibility of becoming full time; work remote options after training.
Position Overview & Basic Function:
Foster Angels of South Texas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in foster care. We are committed to ensuring children in care have their basic needs met and whenever possible provide life enhancing opportunities to help create a sense of normalcy. Foster Angels is searching for a Youth Program Manager who is looking for an exciting opportunity to oversee the Life Set program that supports young people who have experienced time in foster care and are working towards independence. This position oversees the strategic direction, development and implementation of all Life Set programs. In addition, the Youth Program Manager will provide outreach and advocacy in order to ensure the community is aware of assistance/services provided by FAST. This includes attending conferences, speaking at roundtables, Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) meetings and participating in various workgroups as deemed appropriate.
Primary Responsibilities:
∙ Oversee aspects of the Life Set program which includes Soaring Scholars, Keys to Success, and Housing Pilot
∙ Program development including creating processes, procedures and policies to optimize existing programs
∙ Help build out Life Set program calendar for the year including a new housing pilot
∙ Identifying new program partners and stewarding existing partnerships
∙ Manage and strengthen relationships with PAL Program through Child Protective Services
∙ Assist in providing content for social media, website, one pagers and updating logic models and impact reports for all Life Set programs
∙ Work in partnership with the program team on additional projects including back to school drive, Focus on a foster teen Christmas drive and Courage & Resilience honorees.
∙ Identify and implement best practices in program management to continuously improve program effectiveness
∙ Work with Executive Director, RGV Director & Development Director to help promote the mission of Foster Angels
∙ Support Executive Director & Board of Directors with other projects deemed as necessary
∙ Attend and present at quarterly board meetings
Required Knowledge & Skills:
∙ An interest in and commitment to Foster Angel’s mission to help children in foster care
∙ Detail oriented with ability to multitask on various projects
∙ Strong interpersonal, verbal & written communications skills
∙ Ability to work independently while being a good team player
∙ Effective time management, able to meet deadlines & reliable
∙ Honest and trustworthy
∙ Strong problem-solving, priority-setting and decision-making skills
∙ Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and minimum of one year related work experience with underserved youth preferred
∙ Microsoft Office & Google Suite proficiency
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
∙ Experience in foster care system, benefits and resources for underserved & aging out youth
∙ Trauma-Informed training is plus
Requirements:
∙ Attend key events during the year including some night and weekend work and travel required programming events
∙ Background check; must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
